Family Support & Resources
At Aboriginal Head Start, supporting children also means supporting the families who care for them.
Our Family Support Team works alongside parents and caregivers to identify needs, build on family strengths, and connect families with programs, services, and community resources that may be helpful throughout the year.
Whether you are looking for support during pregnancy, help preparing for a new baby, access to basic needs, referrals to community services, or simply need someone to help you figure out where to start, our Family Support Workers are here to help.
Families may be connected with a variety of programs and resources based on their individual needs and eligibility. Some supports require an application or referral through our Family Support Team, while others may be accessed directly within the community.
On this page, you can learn more about programs currently available to our families, including Health for Two and Basically Babies.

New baby support
Basically Babies
Need a little extra support for baby?
Welcoming a new baby comes with lots of excitement — and lots of little things you need along the way.
Aboriginal Head Start has partnered with Basically Babies, a local charitable program that provides essential baby clothing and supplies to families experiencing financial hardship.
Eligible families may be referred to receive a baby layette containing clothing and other essential items to help support their baby during the first year.
If you are expecting a baby or have recently welcomed a new baby and could use a little extra support, our Family Support Team can help.
Our Family Support Team can:
- help you learn more about the program;
- review eligibility with you;
- complete the referral or application process; and
- connect you with available supports.
